1969 Islander 37

Islander 37 Cruising Yacht
Sail away condition!
Classic Bruce King designed Fiberglass sloop built by the famous Islander Yacht Building Corporation of Costa Mesa, California.
This yacht looks great at the dock, in an anchorage and out sailing. The owners started with an excellent boat and updated almost everything.
All of the work was done by professionals to the highest level. This boat looks like new from the dock. She easily motors at 7 kts and sails like a dream. Her warm, comfortable interior is heated by a Wallas forced air heater. Her bulkheads and trim are made of ribbon cut Hondouras Mahogany, which is almost unobtainable today. She sleeps 5 in 2 cabins, and easily sits 6 in the cockpit.
If you are drawn to classic yachts and are in the market for a classic design, you owe it to yourself to have a personal showing of this very fine yacht.
"Grace" will not disappoint in looks, condition and performance.

Bruce King was the in-house designer at Ericson Yachts for many years. Islander commissioned Bruce to draw the Islander 37 prior to his position as chief designer at Ericson.
The Islander 37 can best be described as the "little sister to the Ericson 41". If you look at the line drawings, the two yachts share a common sheer line, aft overhang and cockpit.
The Ericson has a larger keel relative to hull shape, the Islander has the predessor of the modern fin keel design.
To compare the Islander 37 to its closest competitor of the day, one would use the Hinckley 35. The Islander 37 is a little longer, more beam, longer waterline, more sail area and lower displacement. In short, its a faster boat.
The build quality of the Islander 37 is excellent. This yacht was built before the chopper gun was common and the fiberglass is hand laid mat and roving. The hull is overbuilt because nobody had engineering numbers at the time. The thought of the day was "If a half inch is good, 5/8's is better".
Also, this yacht was built before blisters became an issue on fiberglass boats due to changes in materials and building processes.
The bottom line is, this is a Bruce King pedigree design built by one of the best California boat builders of the day.
The current owners have spent a considerable amount of money and time restoring this yacht to her current condition. GRACE is available for less than half the refit costs and she is fully insurable.
